Project Lifesaver was established in 1999 in Virginia to use state of the art technology to assist in locating individuals with Alzheimer's and other related mental dysfunctions who are lost.  This includes the youngest in our community afflicted with Down's Syndrome, Autism, developemental disorders and elders with dementia.

There are no boundries- no one is immune!

A Project Lifesaver participant wears a bracelet imbedded with a specifically identified microwave radio chip.  Then, when a family member reports the person missing, a specially trained search and rescue team immediately starts to search with the coded-to-the individual mobile tracking system.

This is a much needed service in our County and Communities.

There have been over 2400 searches in participating communities.  Astonishing is the fact that there hae been no reported injuries or deaths, and search and rescue times have been reduced from perhaps never, or months, or weeks, days to minutes.  30 minutes is the average recovery time nationwide.

We have made community awareness and education a priority and serves as the cornerstone of Project Lifesaver's success.  Project Lifesaver volunteers to present information to civic organizations, Law Enforcement agencies and healthcare providers through out the local community and state.

Numerous Civic Organiztions contributed money to start Project Lifesavers.

On Friday night May 8th 2015 the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office was involved in the First Search for a Project Lifesaver Client that had wandered away from home.  A Mentally Challenged 55 year old Booneville Man wandered away from his home on CR 2121.  Deputies Responded with Project Lifesaver Tracking Equipment and within 55 minutes located the missing man.  We are very pleased with the results.  He was proud to see us after having spent two and half hours in the pitch black woods of the Bunkom Hill Community.
