The 13th annual TRIAD Senior Citizens Appreciation Day was held Friday May 30th at the First United Methodist Church in Booneville. Local area entertainment was provided by the Gospel Sounds and Ms Kay Bain. We had the largest turnout ever with around 600 in attendance including Senior Citizens, Volunteers and Vendors. Everyone had their fill of Food and Fun and great Door Prizes.

The TRIAD was formed in 2000 and was created based on a Natiowide Program that is funded thru the Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging that provides grant funding to local S.A.L.T. Committees to enhance the quality of life of our senior citizens. S.A.L.T. Committees are volunteers within the communities that meet regular to manage the activities of the local TRIADS. Our TRIAD have given away hundreds of Weather Radios, Smoke Detectors, Fire Extingishers, 911 signs and other items that benefits these Seniors. "I have always had a special place in my heart for Senior Citizens and enjoy talking and sharing with them. The TRIAD enables us to go above that which would be normal by give aways and other services, along with the annual Appreciation Day that I always look forward to." Sheriff Tolar. "I am especially thankful to my fellow S.A.L.T. Committee Members that have been so faithful of the years. It is truly a blessing to have such loving and caring people in our county and communities."
