Friday afternoon at 12:34 PM We received at call of a 55 year old mentally challenged man had wondered away was missing from a home on CR 2121 in the Bunkom Hill Community. The man could have been missing several hours before we were notified. Deputies and Prentiss County Search and Rescue aided by SAR track dog searched for several hours in the area looking for the man. He was eventually located at 5:31 PM. Our biggest concern was the fact that I was getting dark soon and the tempatures were likely going to drop after the sun went down. This is the second time this individual has wondered away from home. The previous incident happened several years ago south of Booneville on one of the hottest days of summer. The man was located and was dehydrated. We want to thank everyone for their concern and efforts in the search. We tried to limit the number of people actually in the woods so that their scent would not interfere with the dog tracking, while others were monitoring the roads in an effort to kept him contained in the area we believed he was in.
