On Weds April 27th Investigators and Deputies arrested JD Stewart 61 of Baldwyn after a warrant was issued for Failure ot Register Under Sex Offender Registration Law by not remaining in compliance with registration obligations. This is the second time in several weeks that Stewart has been charged with the same offense. He remains in jail pending an initial appearance before the judge. Under the Law, Sex Offenders are required to register with the Sheriff's Office then maintain a current State ID from the Drivers License Office. Our Department has an Investigator the registers the offender then another Officer that monthly monitors the compliance of the Offender by making contact with the Offender at the His/Her residence and confirming residency. This process allows us to closely monitor our sex offenders. The State of Mississippi posts the information of Registered Sex Offenders on it's Website, accessible through the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry which has a photo of the Offender as well as his/her address and a pin map of the Offender residence.
