Academy Graduation Turns out New Deputies

On Sunday December 31, 2017, The NEMCC Part Time Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy held its Graduation for its most recent class.  There were nine (9) graduates, three of which were from Prentiss County.  Pictured in the photo of four is Josh Brumley, Dallas Lumpkin, Sheriff Randy Tolar and Aaron Brumley.  I am proud of these young men and I am confident that each one will have a bright future in Law Enforcement.  Josh and Aaron Brumley are the Grandson's of Former Sheriff Ferrell Brumley, who served as Prentiss County Sheriff from 1992 to 1996.  Sheriff Tolar was appointed as the Department's Investigator by Brumley when he took Office.  I appreciate the opportunity he gave me when he became Sheriff.  I was proud to be able to give his grandsons a chance to fulfil their dream of becoming Law Enforcement Officers. These men showed excellence in their training and received multiple awards for their accomplishments.

In a Separate story, recent position changes at the Sheriff's Office has opened up Patrol Deputy Positions.  Deputy Dallas Lumpkin began his first shift on January 1st.  Lumpkin has been working as a Corrections Officer as well as Field Training preparing himself for the Deputy position.  Dallas has shown drive and initiative during both his Field Training and Academy Training that has been very impressive.  Lumpkin was originally recruited after we spoke to Shane Scott's Criminal Justice Class at NEMCC.

Aaron 'Gunter' Brumley will start as a Deputy Sheriff in the middle of January.  Aaron has experience as a Corrections Officer having worked with the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office
