On Thursday 02/08 Prentiss County Narcotics Investigator Joey Clark and Grady Smith arrested John A Nunn 56 of Apartment 6A Sunflower Booneville after a traffic stop.  Nunn was found to be in possession of Cocaine.  He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) with the Intent to Sell or Distribute.  The arrest came after a several month long undercover investigation.  As a result of that investigation Nunn was charged with Two Counts of Sale of a Controlled Substance .  His bond was set at $100,000 and MDOC has a hold on him .  He remains in custody.  These cases will be presented to the next Grand Jury by Investigator Clark.  Booneville Narcotics Officer James Page and North Ms Narcotics Unit assisted with the cases.
Agent Injured-
This incident led to a search being conducted at Nunn's residence.  While Agent Page was obtaining a Search Warrant, Agents Clark and Smith secured the residence.  While they were awaiting the return of Page with the search warrant, two male individuals drove up in a Grey Dodge Charger.  The Agents approached the Charger and immediately smelled Marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Clark asked the occupants to exit the vehicle but the driver accelerated as Agent Clark was attempting to open the door through an open window and was dragged as the suspects fled.  Agent Clark sustained injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.  After being examined by medical personnel it was determined that he had only minor cuts, scrap and injuries and was released.  A warrant has been issued for the driver, whom was identified by Agents Clark and Smith as Omar Lewis Leach 26 of Booneville.  Leach was under supervision of MDOC House Arrest Monitoring at the time of this incident.  A warrant has been issued for Leach for Aggravated Assault on an Police Officer.  Booneville Police are handling the Assault investigation.  This is just another example of how dangerous our work is.  And as in the instance it happens without warning and in the blink of an eye.  Nationwide this passed week and weekend 5 or 6 Law Enforcement Officers have been killed in the line of duty.  The Dodge Charger was recovered later in the same day.  A special thanks to the Booneville Police and everyone else that responded to this incident.
